Jennifer Roughton
I was born in Dubbo in Western NSW and grew up in Bowral in the NSW Southern Highlands.
I went to university in Canberra where I studied Psychology, Biological Anthropology and Environmental Management, and later did post-graduate study in Wildlife Conservation.
After university I worked at a pet store in Canberra, gaining experience with some more unusual pets including lizards, frogs, tortoises, ferrets, rabbits, seahorses, and scorpions. I then saved my pennies and tripped off to South America for a couple of months before returning to work for the ACT Environment Protection Authority.
In 2006 I made the move to Queensland, originally settling on Tamborine Mountain and travelling into work for the Environmental Protection Agency in Brisbane.
In 2008 I spent a year living in London and travelling around Europe, before returning to Australia and buying my first home in Redcliffe. At the same time I decided that government policy work was no longer for me. I wanted a career where I could engage with people and animals on a daily basis rather than staring at a computer all day. So I commenced my study in vet nursing and haven't looked back since!
I have always had an immense love of animals, and over the years have had dogs, horses, rabbits, guinea pigs, cockatiels and fish. I currently have a gorgeous Staffy boy and a lovely little Pug-cross girl who keep me on my toes.
I look forward to getting to know you and all your wonderful pets.
