WARMING UP FOR PARASITES.

The warmer weather increases the numbers of fleas, mosquitoes, sandflies etc. which bite our pets and cause skin irritations. More mosquitoes can increase the risk of heartworm infection; so it is a good idea to check if your dog’s heartworm prevention is up-to-date

Any blood sucking parasite will effect our pets. Regular flea treatment is a must to avoid the seasonal flea plague but treatment for the other blood sucking parasites is also important. If your pets are outside, maybe a mossie coil or one of the numerous repellent sprays available would help.

If you are taking your pets off the Peninsula be aware of paralysis ticks especially in long-grassed bush areas. Always check them over while you away and after you have returned from these areas for up to 2 weeks. You could also consider applying Frontline or a tick collar before going into these areas.
