I have featured multiple times on the Peninsula Vet facebook page, and if my plans for the future come to fruition, I will soon be in complete control and have my own facebook page.

Following a 2 year working holiday in the UK, my wife, Penny, and I returned to Australia. In January 1994 we opened the current vet surgery.

A highlight of my life was being able to travel around Australia with my family during 2004.

I am especially interested in canine and feline medicine.

Bio:

I was born in Ingham, North Queensland where I lived until my family moved to Brisbane in 1980. During my schooling years, I was involved in the scouting movement which gave me an appreciation for the outdoors.

I graduated from the University of Queensland as a vet in 1987. I began working in mixed practice in the Lockyer Valley. After 12 months, working holiday in the UK, my wife and I settled in the Gold Coast Hinterland. We moved back to Brisbane to be near our extended families after the birth of our second daughter.

I decided to move onto the Peninsula when James invited me to work at Peninsula Vet Surgery, while he travelled around Australia in 2004.

We enjoyed the Peninsula, so decided to stay.

I began my career in Central Queensland, working in a mixed practice with both small and large animals. I was there for 9 years and loved the "unexpected" and very different caseloads. Since then I have worked in small animal practices, doing permanent and locum work. Recently I've worked at Morayfield, Baldhills, Petrie and the Redcliffe Peninsula.

My veterinary interests are varied but I enjoy feline medicine, dentistry, dermatology, and the challenges of internal medicine.

Our dog Copernicus is our “baby” now that the boys are fully-grown.

Bio:

I was born and grew up in Brisbane. While studying at the University of Queensland, I met James Cumines and we have been together since. I began my veterinary career in a small animal clinic at Macgregor, later moving to Toowoomba. We also gained valuable experience working as locums in England while igniting our lifelong passion for travel.

After returning to Australia we managed to get married, start a family, and a business, all within a couple of years, as you do.

Since the birth of our third son, I have enjoyed a managerial role rather than clinical, and am involved in the training and development of our veterinary nurses.

My days off are mostly spent with family, including the furry ones. I love taking my dalmations Zephyr and Dynamo to dog shows, or spending time with Pepsi, my Arab cross Stock horse.

Bio:

I started my career in the industry working as a kennel hand at a veterinary surgery, when first leaving school. After 4 years, I diverted from the vet nursing career path, meanwhile having a baby, but always intending to once again work in a vet surgery. I fulfilled that goal when I began my nursing qualification and shortly afterwards work placement in 2015. Now that I have completed my certificate, I am looking forward to continuing to develop as a vet nurse and provide the best care I can to our patients.

I've been fortunate to gain a position at Peninsula Vet, and I'm excited to begin a new adventure, training to become a vet nurse.
