OUR VETERINARY TEAM
James Cumines

I was born in Brisbane and studied at the University of Queensland and graduated in 1987 as a veterinary surgeon. I started working as a vet in a mixed animal practice in Roma.

Following a 2 year working holiday in the UK, my wife Penny and I returned to Australia and in January 1994 we opened the current vet surgery. Penny and I now have 3 boys, all at school, a dog "Portia" and a cat "Meow". When I am not working, I enjoy kite surfing, soccer and tennis.

The highlight of my life was being able to travel around Australia with my family in 2004. I have a special interest in dog and cat general medicine.

Ian Lynch

I was born in Ingham, North Queensland where I lived until my family moved to Brisbane in 1980. During my schooling years, I was involved in the scouting movement which gave me an appreciation for the outdoors.

I graduated from the University of Queensland as a vet in 1987. I began working in mixed practice in the Lockyer Valley. After 12 months, working holiday in the UK, my wife and I settled in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

We moved back to Brisbane to be near our extended families after the birth of our second daughter. I decided to move onto the Peninsula when James invited me to work at Peninsula Vet Surgery, while he travelled around Australia in 2004.

We enjoyed the Peninsula, so we have decided to stay. I am married with 2 children. I enjoy touch football, camping and 4wd driving.

Penny Cumines

I grew up and schooled at Rochedale, Brisbane. I graduated from the University of Queensland in 1987 and started working in a small animal practice in Toowoomba. James and I worked and holidayed in the UK for 2 years before returning to Queensland.

We settled on the Peninsula and set up Peninsula Vet Surgery at its current location. James and I started our family and have 3 wonderful boys. I have many fond memories of our early family days at the surgery.

Presently, most of my time at the surgery involves administration and clerical work which is not particular glamorous but very necessary. My hobbies are running, belly dancing and Tae-kwon-do.

I've worked in various vet practices around Brisbane and have done quite a bit of locum work here at Peninsula Veterinary Surgery in the past before starting full time employment for the in 2001.

I have a huge love of animals and my interests are music, dancing, reading and of course anything to do with animals!

Naomi Paterson

I was born in England and my father was a British Army Officer which meant we travelled all over the world.

My family settled in Cheshire when my father retired and that is when I started my studies in Animal Care and Welfare.

I have completed several diplomas in Animal Care which lead me to do a degree in (Bsc) Animal Behaviour and Welfare.

Once I graduated I was lucky enough to get a position as a Primate and Reptile keeper at the Isle Of Wight Zoo which I did for three years.

Then the travel bug got hold of me again and I came to Australia backpacking where I met my now husband. I moved here to live in 2008 and in January 2009 took up the great opportunity to work at Peninsula Vet Surgery.

I have always had a great love and compassion for all animals, my family would rescue horses and dogs.

I have a great interest in canine and feline behaviour I know that I will learn a lot from the team at Peninsula Vet's and from starting the Vet Nurse course in July 2009.
